BOOK REVIEW – BeGone

The first thing that caught my attention in BeGone was the writing styles. It was a pleasant mix of descriptive and narrative writing. And I love literatures that give details, transport you to the scene, paint vivid pictures and make the characters real and relatable. And all that you will find in BeGone.

BeGone is a nest of intrigues from the first page to the last page. Just when you think the author is now tying the knots together, you are thrown into another suspense that makes you check the number of pages left hoping and wishing the experience isn’t just about to end.

This book chronicles the life of a woman with dreams and ambitions in a relationship that tries to not only stifle and muzzle the same, but make her a wreck in the process.
BeGone is the story of a sister whose smile warms your heart because she has mastered the art of using it to hide her tears. BeGone is the story of a mother whose kids liven the home because they have become carapace against her pain. BeGone is the story of that friend we all regard as the life of the party but are gravely unaware of the enormous pain she carries. BeGone is our story. The story of how we are confronted with tough choices in the midst of our battle for survival. The story of how we must accept it is okay to cry and ask for help when our stoic stance is no longer favorable. BeGone is our story.

The author, Temi Taiwo-Oni, did a fantastic job with this one and I have to say Kudos. You all should pick up a copy and enjoy this great work of fiction.

The best part for me in this beautiful piece is how the author ties the ends together. It isn’t conventional, it is quite unpopular, but it is very instructive. It communicates that sometimes we don’t have to be near to make someone see the light. We can shine our light from a distance and the undeniable power of it will not be mistaken, it would not be confused. For when it’s all said and done, you are just as much a light as I am a light.
The myriad of emotions in this book gives you an experience that will stay with you for a long time. And in all of it the assurance of hope remains strong and is never lost on you.
