FathersLikeThat: Nnamdi Diribe
Taking these boys’ pictures was work. They were all over their father like a swarm of bees. It was hard to get them to sit still, strike a pose or just be calm for a good shot. They were just tugging and tussling, climbing all over him, on his head, on his laps. Justin pulled his shirt, Joshua dragged his leg, Naeto was on his neck like he was going to strangle him. Their energy was crazy. And Nnamdi wasn’t even perturbed one bit, like he was used to it, it wasn’t anything strange. In fact, he was lost in that space and he became like one of them, like I had four kids to shoot. Boy! I wondered if I could manage their energy!
That’s Diribe’s boys! Energy! And that’s the temperateness of a father! Calm and Peaceful! To a stranger like me, it was insufferable but to Naeto, Joshua and Justin’s father, it was love in its purest form. Nnamdi is a FatherLikeThat.
Family is just beautiful and a father makes it all the more special. It’s reason why the enemy throws his darts to mess up the good that God planned. But a father leads the pack. Amidst the onslaught, amidst the attack he remains rock-solid, unshakable, unyielding and unwilling to jettison his position. Nnamdi is a FatherLikeThat. He takes the battle head on and wins consistently in the place of prayer. That’s how a father protects his yard.
We don’t say it often. We sometimes take it for granted too. But, this day we thank you for all that you do, for all that you are and for just being there through thick and thin. We thank you for parrying the arrows of the enemy away with your doggedness and tenacity. We thank you for playing your role in ensuring the next generation is safe and sane. Thank you for being a #FatherLikeThat.
Thank you, Nnamdi.
