It’s a Trust.
God put the tree in the garden and told Adam not to eat from it.
He could have just built an impenetrable fence around it to restrain them.
He could have made it inaccessible if it was that sacred.
He could have removed the tree altogether since He had the power to.
But He didn’t.
They exercised their power of choice and ate.
God knew Cain was planning to kill Abel and He didn’t protect him.
He could have just given the dude a heads-up so he could escape.
He could have saved him as a reward for the praise-worthy offering he gave.
He could have removed him from the field altogether since He had the power to.
But He didn’t.
Cain exercised his power of choice and killed his brother.
I am keeping the tree here and I am going to trust you won’t eat from it.
I am not removing Abel and I am going to trust you won’t carry out your evil plan.
I am putting you in charge of the funds and I am going to trust you won’t steal from it.
I am allowing the girls stay and I’m going to trust you won’t take advantage of them.
I am bringing the children and I’m going to trust you will do well by them.
I am not tempting you. Can I trust you?
Fatherhood is a trust.

When we choose to be intentional, as fathers, we put ourselves in a position to do better.
May we keep sustaining God’s bragging rights. Its so easy to fall short! May we remain resolute and intentional about the tasks He has committed into our hands.
Amen.
